Moodbidri, Oct 13: A person who was transporting beef in an auto-rickshaw near Karinje here was arrested by the police personnel of the town police station on Monday, October 12.

A person named Badruddin was seated in an auto-rickshaw that was near Neeralike in Karinje village. Based On reliable information the local police went there and questioned him. The police observed that eight plastic sachets weighing one kg each were kept in an empty paint bucket inside the auto-rickshaw.

The police confiscated the auto-rickshaw, Rs 17,500 in cash which was reportedly the beef sale proceeds, beef worth Rs 2,0000 and a mobile phone found in his possession.

This incident happened close on the heels of an incident that happened at Moodukonaje on Sunday evening in which cattle were being illegally transported in a Ritz car and bullets were fired in the air before the cattle were rescued. Seven accused had succeeded in fleeing in another vehicle in that case.
