Bengaluru, Oct 14: The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the riots at DJ Halli and KG Halli, has questioned Congress MLAs from the city Zameer Ahmed Khan and Rizwan who allegedly were linked to the trouble in these areas. The NIA has recorded their statements.

As per the notice served on him by the NIA, Zameer appeared for the questioning session on Tuesday. The officials who questioned him and recorded his statements, let him go. On Monday, Rizwan Arshad was questioned and his statements were recorded, sources said.

The NIA officials had conducted separate raids on two days and collected certain documentary evidence relating to the trouble. In the second phase, they have planned to question some eyewitnesses and some locals. Some were earlier questioned and on the basis of the feedback, the two legislators had been summoned.

Former city mayor Sampathraj, his close aides Santhosh Kumar, Arun Manoraj and Junaid have been named as accused by the central crime branch police in the case. It is learnt that the NIA plans to take these and some others into custody for interrogating them as the trio appear to have played a role in the unexpected riots in the city.
