Karwar, Oct 16: In an accident which happened at Kodanamane near Heggarani in Siddapur taluk, Uttara Kannada district on Thursday October 15, a car jumped into a rivulet in full flow. All the four occupants of the car met a watery grave.

The victims of the accident were Akshata Hiremath and Sushmita from Vidyanagar Hubballi, Hubballi KLE College engineering student Ronit, and car driver Nischal Hiremath from Keshwapur. The police with help, brought the car out of the rivulet. Bodies of Nischal, Ronit and Sushmita were fished out while Akshata was washed away in the flood. Search for her is on.

Some claim that the accident would have happened on Wednesday late evening when those in the car were returning after visiting Unchalli falls in Siddapur taluk. The spot where the accident happened has a steep road bend and it is likely that the driver who could not properly see the bend would have jumped into the rivulet.

The car had drowned in the rivulet and its top was visible about 200 metres away from where it jumped in the rivulet. Locals saw its roof on Thursday afternoon. The car and bodies were brought out with a lot of efforts.
