Mangaluru, Oct 16: World Stroke Organization in 2006 established October 29 as 'World Stroke Day' to spread awareness of world’s high stroke risk and stroke prevalence. World Stroke Day aims at stroke prevention.

The aim is towards stroke prevention by addressing the risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, elevated cholesterol, obesity, heart diseases and smoking that lessen the chance of having stroke substantially.

A J Hospital and Research Centre has brought out a special stroke check-up package on account of World Stroke Day for two weeks from October 19 to 31. The package is offered at 50 percent discount, at Rs 2,650 against the actual rate of Rs 5,300.

The investigations covered are - Registration, Haemoglobin (Hb), Random Blood Sugar, Serum Creatinine, ECG (electrocardiogram), Carotid Doppler, CT Head – Plain, Consultation with Neurologist.

A J Hospital consultant Neurologists Dr Suresh B V and Dr Saurab Rai will be available for consultations. Further investigations if advised by the consultant Neurologist will be at 25 percent discount.
