Puttur, Oct 31: In an incident which happened at Ambarje in Konalu village near Uppinangady, a man had assaulted his parents and driven them out of the house. His grouse against his parents is that they are not agreeable to transfer the property in his name.

The couple has approached Uppinangady police seeking protection from their own son. The couple happens to be Lingappa Poojary (73) and his wife, Poovamma (67). The couple has 1.8 acres of land and about three acres of Kumki land in their name where agricultural farms and their home are located. Their son, Gangadhar Poojary, has reportedly taken the property into possession by brute force.

Lingappa Poojary, feeling threatened by the violence unleashed by his son, has been living in the house of relatives from the last five years. His wife was staying with relatives for the last two years. She had visited her plantation to look after the crops there but her son had menacingly flashed a sickle at her and tried to attack her.

The couple has requested the police to extend protection to them. They have said that their son is not even allowing them to build a one-room structure in the Kumki land for them to live. The Uppinagady police, who have received the complaint, are looking into the matter.

This is the height of cruelty/barbarism against ones own parents .
what a shame the son who is supposed to look after his aged parents is thrown them out.
And no one in that village provided any help/support other than their own relatives.

Its strange that we tend to close our eyes for this cruel act and when it happens in our own homes we call it crime. How can we keep silent in the face of this cruelty.
No one had the courage to call the police just help this old couple,.
I think we have lost our humaneness/ what is the use of our education ?
    sad state of affairs.
