Udupi, Nov 5: "General speciality cashless system of ESI at the prestigious Kasturba Medical College Manipal is stalled because of non-payment of the bill by the government. State government should immediately intervene in this matter and see that the labourers get suitable treatment facility," urged senior Congress leader Veronica Cornelio.

Veronica further said, "It is not right on the part of the government to harass the labourers by not giving their money for their treatment. The government is directly responsible if the labourers are not able to get suitable treatment. As the government has not paid Rs 10 crore bill of the people who have got treatment under ESI in KMC, the employees are not able to get the treatment which is their right. Due to this, thousands of labourers working in beedi and cashew industries are deprived of this facility."

Veronica Cornelio urged the state government to immediately look into this matter and provide justice to the labourers and continue the ESI treatment facility at KMC hospital.
