Bantwal, Nov 6: Sooryanarayana Poovala (51), resident of Poovala, near Amtoor who had served as a journalist for the past 25 years, passed away at his residence early morning on Friday, due to brief illness.

He has left behind his mother, wife and a large number of friends and relatives. He was under treatment in a private hospital in Mangaluru for the last one and a half month and was discharged on Thursday. He had worked for Mungaru newspaper and other local newspapers. He had also worked as a news reporter for Janantaranga and Karavali Ale for a long time in Bantwal.

He was also part of Bantwal taluk Working Journalists Association for several years. The sangha and the Bantwal press club have condoled his death.
