Chikkamagaluru, Nov 26: Five men including three brothers who had gone to swim in a pond at Vastare in the district on Wednesday November 25, drowned. The tragic incident happened at Vastare village in Chikkamagaluru taluk.

The deceased were Raghu(22), Dileep(24), Sandeep(23), Deepak(25) and Sudeep(22).

The marriage of a girl from Vastare village had been recently arranged at the BJP office in this town. On Tuesday, a luncheon had been arranged for guests at the residence of the bride.

Dileep, Deepak and Sudeep, children of Krishnamurthy and Kusuma couple from Hanchiravalli had attended this function as the bride happened to be the daughter of their maternal uncle. On Wednesday, they accompanied Raghu and Sudeep, brothers of the bride to Hirekere pond near Vastare to swim. However, they drowned there. The police and fire personnel later searched and brought out all the five bodies.
