Moodbidri, Nov 27: Four persons accused of stealing valuables from the residence of Saramma, residing near Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering here were arrested by the personnel of the town police station here. They also recovered cash and gold ornaments which were stolen by the accused.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ibrahim Qalandar(38) from Mogral in Kasargod district, Muhammed Mudassir(20) from Shivamogga, Shaheen Siddique(23) from Kotebagilu, Moodbidri, and Muhammed Haneef(40), owner of a jewellery shop at Uppal Hidayat Nagar who has been accused of buying the stolen ornaments from the thieves. Rs 11,000 in cash and about 23 grams of gold ornaments have been recovered from the arrested people.

The operation was performed by Mangaluru city north assistant commissioner of police Belliappa, Moodbidri police inspector Dinesh Kumar B S and sub-inspector Sudeep M V and other personnel under the direction of Mangaluru city police commissioner Vikash Kumar and deputy superintendents of police Hariram Shankar and Vinay Gaonkar.
