Sullia, Nov 28: Puttur sub-division assistant commissioner, Dr Yathish Ullal, has been appointed as the administrative officer of Lord Subrahmanya temple at Kukke, which happens to be the leading temple of Karnataka as far as revenue is concerned.

The competent authority has issued the order of his appointment. His tenure will for a period of six months or till a regular managing committee is appointed, whichever is earlier. Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district passed this order on Friday November 27, making Dr Yathish, the additional in-charge, in expectation of post sanction approval of the competent authority.

The additional deputy commissioner of the district had been appointed as the administrative officer for a period of six months or till the managing committee was formed under section 29 of the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Hindu Endowments Act 1997. As there is pressure of work in the office of the deputy commissioner, the new arrangement has been made. The officials say that if Champa Shashti festival is held during December at Subrahmanya, the additional deputy commissioner will not be able to get involved with the festival preparations fully. Therefore, in public interest and administrative convenience, the assistant commissioner of Puttur has been appointed as the administrative officer of the said temple, the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada stated.
