Bengaluru, Nov 30: Recognised Unaided Private Schools Association (RUPSA) says that because of the stand taken by the state government during the COVID times, 10,000 private schools have closed down. It says that lacs of families of teachers now face the prospects of being driven to streets. The association plans to hold protest in a big way.

President of the association, Lokesh Talikatte, said that the protest is planned against the November 10 order of the education department and confusing statements being issued by education minister, S Suresh Kumar, and also against the step motherly treatment of the government. He said that one lac teachers and management representatives will take part in the protest.

"Instead of helping the private schools during the Covid times, for the last eight months, we are made to face unreasonable problems. About 5,000 applications filed either for upgradation or renewal of recognition have been rejected without reason. In the name of safety of children, private schools are being targeted, and a plan has been hatched to close down private schools," he alleged.

He said that the education minister has been issuing contradictory statements and confusing private schools. "He has forgotten the hard work put in by the teachers. He has also been dilly-dallying in gin in the matter of compensating us from the fee collected from our own schools. This has forced teachers and their families to get driven to streets,” he claimed.
