Udupi: Crash - District Red Cross to Hold Condolence Meet on Thursday

Udupi, May 25: The district unit of the Indian Red Cross Society will be organizing a condolence meet here on Thursday may 27, for the 158 passengers who lost their lives in the air crash at Mangalore airport on Saturday May 22.

This information was given by the president of the district unit of the Red Cross, Basrur Rajeev Shetty, at a press conference held on Monday May 24. He said that the citizens of the district will pay an emotional tribute to the victims of the crash at a programme being held from 4 to 7 pm in the Board High School premises near the service bus stand here.

Sri Sugunendra Swamiji of Puttige Mutt, Fr Mathew Vaz of Mother of Sorrows Church here and Moulana Abdul Rahim Khan Shirani of Jamia Masjid here, will participate in the programme, he revealed. Shetty has requested the citizens from all the religions, government employees, office bearers of organizations etc., to attend the condolence meet in large numbers and pray for the departed souls.

Dr Sharat Kumar of the Red Cross, secretary, Ramachandra Devadiga, patron, Ravindra Pai and district president of the Government Employees Association, Subrhamanya Sherigar, were present at the press conference.
