Kundapur: Three Die in Taluk Due to Drowning, Road Accident

Kundapur, May 27: Satish (40) and his son, Ashit (10) from Hoskere in Bangalore died due to drowning in Maravante beach in the taluk on the evening of Wednesday May 26. They were members of a six-member party from Bangalore that had stopped at the beach for frolic while on a tour in their car.

After roaming around and playing in the beach, all of them ventured into River Sauparnika flowing close by, when two of them met with tragic death. Reportedly, both of them were the natives of Kalasa in Chikmagalur district.It is said that Satish jumped into the river to save his son, who was drowning. Lavanya, daughter of Satish, who jumped into water to save her brother and father, became ill due to excessive consumption of water, while her mother, Lakshmi, was shocked. Both are being treated in Chinmaya Hospital here.

The driver of  a Scorpio vehicle, named Wilson (40), died after the vehicle he was driving tumbled into a gorge after hitting a truck near Neergadde on national highway 17. Wilson was going to Kasarkod near Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district from Kinnigoly, accompanied by his sister. In the accident, Wilson’s hand was severed. He was immediately taken to hospital, where he breathed his last.

The injured lady is recovering in a hospital. A case was registered in Byndoor police station.
