BJP leader passes breach of privilege motion against BMC chief

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Dec 16: A breach of privilege motion has been passed against the BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal in the legislative council by BJP leader Pravin Darekar. The reason for the same being that the Chahal had not responded to Darekar's letters on several issues, including Covid-19.

The BJP leader in the Maharashtra legislative council said he had written to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation chief on issues like Covid-19, illegal structures, dilapidated buildings and cleaning of drains in Mumbai.

Darekar stated that the BMC chief did not respond in time and said that civic officers are bound to supply information when asked by legislators. "It is a contempt of the rights of the leader of the opposition. Hence I am moving the motion," Darekar told the council.
