Mumbai, Dec 19: Rekha Jadhav, president of the women's wing of Kalyan in the city and four others were booked by the police on Friday December 18 for defrauding six people to the tune of Rs 17 crore.

Police of Mahatma Phule had already arrested prime accused Shreekant Rao and Jadhav in the case. Sandeep Sanap and Sunil Avhad are the other two accused.

The complainants had filed a case five years ago against these people, who ran an investment firm that promised its investors a hefty return of 18% per annum. However, the local police failed to act.

When the matter was taken up by NCP state spokesperson Vikas Lavande with Anil Deshmukh, the home minister of the state, the police acted upon the case.

The accused allegedly ran the ATM Multitrade Services company, as per the sources in the police. It is said that they cheated customers of the firm since 2014.

An amount of Rs 10 to 15 lac was invested by Chandraprabha Dhagale and five others, residents of Gauripada, who are the complainants in the case. Based on their complaint, the police booked Rekha Jadhav and four others.
