Bengaluru, Dec 28: Developments in state politics are taking place, which are complementing the rumours that there will be a totally new state of affairs in politics in Karnataka after Makara Sankranthi festival in January.

Information is gathered that two senior BJP leaders of Belagavi origin have met former minister C M Ibrahim in the city and have had serious discussion.

Ibrahim has kept himself aloof from the Congress party activities accusing the party that it is neglecting him. Former CM and legislative leader of JD(S) H D Kumaraswamy has met Ibrahim twice and has officially invited him to join the party.

In the midst of this, a meeting by senior BJP leaders Umesh Katti and Prabhakar Kore with Ibrahim has given rise to a new twist. It is said that serious discussion is being held to unite the Janata Parivar keeping in mind the Vokkaliga, Lingayat and Muslim communities in the 1996 model. It is said that the meeting of Umesh Katti and Prabhakar Kore with Ibrahim is done on these lines.

Reliable sources have confirmed that leaders of Janata Parivar in Congress and BJP are in touch with C M Ibrahim after H D Kumaraswamy met him and have assured Ibrahim that a clear cut decision will be taken at the appropriate time.

In 1996, Janata Parivar emerged as the strongest in the state. There were 16 MPs from the state representing Janata Parivar. In the then Janata Dal party, there was a big team of Vokkaliga, Lingayat and Muslim communities.

During 1996 S R Bommai, M P Prakash, V S Kaujalagi and Vaijanatha Patil represented the Veerashaiva Lingayat community, while the Vokkaligas were headed by H D Deve Gowda, Nanjegowda, B N Bacchegowda and B L Shankar. Muslim community was represented by Abdul Nazeer Saab, C M Ibrahim, Kamarul Islam and Mirajuddin Patel.
