Bantwal, Dec 28: “The necessary guidelines should be mandatorily followed when votes are being counted,” said Bantwal tahsildar Anitalaxmi to the candidates and the agents. “Only the candidate or an agent will be permitted in the vote counting room. The identity card signed by the election officer and the photo of the candidate or agent should be held compulsorily. It should be shown to the concerned person if necessary.

“Mobile phones, smart watches or any weapons are banned in the centres. If a person goes out from the centre, he will not be allowed to enter again. All should go out of the room after the counting of votes. All should leave the centre other than the winning candidate after the win. Panchayat wise election officers will be issuing a declaration to the winning candidate.

“Victory celebrations till a radius of 500 metres from the centre are banned. Covid regulations issued by the government should be strictly followed. Legal action will be taken against a person who does not follow the guidelines and he or she will be sent out of the centre,” she said.
