Mangaluru: Pick-up van falls on house, four injured

Mangaluru, Dec 29: In an incident which happened on Monday December 28 on the road behind Bharath Printers at Maroli here, four persons suffered injuries after a pick-up van lost balance and fell on a house.

When negotiating the steep road, the driver of the van lost control on the van after which it fell on the tiled roof of Chandrayya Acharya's house. As a result, the roof of the house and a sidewall got dislodged.

Chandrayya's wife Rajeevi and her daughter were the only persons inside the house when the accident happened. Rajeevi suffered minor injuries while her daughter escaped unscathed. Pick-up driver, Praveen Kumar and two workers on the van were injured, it is learnt.

Acharya at that time had parked his car a little away and was walking towards his house. Acharya reportedly works as taxi driver.

The policemen of the traffic (east) station and corporator, Keshav Maroli, visited the spot. A case was registered in this regard at traffic police station.
