Udupi: Attempt to sell stolen dry fish - Thief caught

Udupi, Dec 30: After an attempt was made to sell dry fish in the same shed from where it had been stolen, the thief concerned was caught. This incident happened near the fisheries port at Malpe on Tuesday December 29.

The thief has been identified as Ramdas (40), a native of Odisha. 14 bags of dry fish belonging to Jalaja Kotian, a vendor of dry fish and president of Malpe Fisher Women's Cooperative Society, had been stolen on the night of December 15. Jalaja had filed a complaint at Malpe police station.

On Tuesday, a person brought five bags of dry fish to Jalaja Kotian and wanted to sell the dry fish to her. Jalaja identified her fish with the mark she had made on the bags. When the person was questioned, he confessed that he had bought the said fish from Ramdas.
