Kasargod: Plywood truck tumbles - Two including driver charred alive

Kasargod, Dec 30: The rope that had been tied around a load of plywood being carried by a lorry snapped when the vehicle was passing from near the town. When the rope tore apart, the driver lost control over the lorry which then overturned. On That occasion, some chemical kept in a can inside the cabin spilled on the driver and cleaner, both of whom were burnt alive as a result.

The incident happened on the night if Tuesday December 29 at the junction on national highway here. It is learnt that the rope which held the plywood together got ripped apart at which the lorry went out of control and fell down. Driver of the lorry identified as Ashok (28) and cleaner Pradeep (29), both from Karnataka, died in the incident.

The chemical that is used to bond plywood together had been kept in the cabin of the driver. The fire brigade personnel doused the flames later. The charred bodies were kept in the mortuary of Kasargod general hospital.
