Mangaluru, Dec 31: Joachim Fredrick D’Souza, popularly known as J F D’Souza Attavar released his fourteenth children's storybook ‘Robinson Crusoe’ on Wednesday December 30 at Press Club, Mangaluru.

Releasing the book, Richard Moras, founder of Konkan Kutam Bahrain said, “It is the first time ‘Robinson Crusoe’ is releasing in Konkani. The Konkani speaking community is always grateful to J F D’Souza for his efforts to bring great children's literature from English and other languages to Konkani. The reading of these types of stories will boost the reading and writing skills of our children. We are looking forward to many more works from J F D’Souza in the coming years."

J F D’Souza said, “It is my 14th book and I am happy to dedicate ‘Robinson Crusoe’ to all our Konkani speaking children. The story is said to be based on the life of Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish castaway who lived for four years on a pacific island called 'Más a Tierra’, now part of Chile, which was renamed Robinson Crusoe Island in 1966. I hope children will enjoy the story because its English version received a huge response globally. I thank all my readers and supporters for their encouragement."

Known Konkani writer Marcel Milar, Tracy Pinto and others were present on the dais.
