Kundapur: Elected GP members to be trained this month – Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary

Kundapur, Jan 2: “The state government has decided to provide training to newly elected gram panchayat (GP) members in the state suitably with the cooperation of Abdul Nazeer rural development organization before the end of this month,” said Karnataka state minister of fisheries and Muzrai department, Kota Srinivas Poojary.

He was speaking to news reporters after receiving petitions from people at the Mini Vidhan Saudha here on Saturday.

“The knowledge on the responsibilities of panchayat members and administration to form local government on gram panchayat level will be provided in the training. A transparent list of reservations for the posts of presidents and vice presidents for the gram panchayats will be announced soon. The government will guide to obtain statutory funds of 15th finance commission to conduct panchayats independently, according to plans and to respond to the grievances of people,” he said.

“People have elected BJP supported candidates in large numbers confiding in the methods of state chief minister B S Yediyurappa led government and the Gram Swaraj dreams of the BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel. The party is grateful to voters who have elected BJP supported candidates in more than 120 gram panchayats out of 153 gram panchayats in Udupi district and more than 150 gram panchayats out of 220 gram panchayats in Dakshina Kannada district,” he said.

“The government will be taking action against organizations who act beyond legal purview of the constitution. The Dakshina Kannada district police officials have been directed to take stringent action against people who shout anti national slogans and challenge the constitution and the government. Some of the people are already arrested in this connection. The searches for and the investigations about the remaining suspects are in progress. As district in charge minister I have directed immediate ruthless legal action on those who assault police officials on duty and indulge in drug transport and peddling. The government will provide suitable protection to police personnel who take action against criminals,” he said.

“The government has come to know that salary is not released to staff employed on contract basis, cooks and staff in Santvana Kendra for the last several months. The salary is delayed as the department of finance has asked for clarification on payment of salary to staff without work. I have already spoken to the concerned minister in this connection and I hope that the matter will be resolved soon,” he said.

Kundapur BJP mandala president Shankar Ankadakatte, chief secretary Suresh Shetty, municipal council vice president Sandeep Kharvi and council member Girish G K were present.
