Udupi: Vaishaki Mayya awarded PhD from Duke University, USA

Udupi, Jan 4: A former student of Sharada Residential School, Udupi and NITK Suratkal, Vaisakhi Mayya, has completed her PhD from the Duke University of North Carolina in the USA. Her study which led to the awarding of the doctorate was based on identifying small communities of connected individuals in a larger network (for eg Facebook) and was titled ‘Fundamental Limits for Community Detection in Labelled Network’.

 

The dissertation focused on the best performance that can be achieved by an algorithm for detecting communities under the guidance of Galen Reeves. Vaisakhi Mayya also holds a Masters in Biomedical Engineering from John Hopkins University with a special focus on medical device development.
