Bantwal: Artist Gopal Bangera selected for Janapada award-2020

Bantwal, Jan 4: Karnataka Janapada Academy has selected Kalladka Shilpa Gombe troupe artiste Gopal Bangera for the Janapada award for the year 2020. Gopala Bangera, son of Kavalapadoor residents Jarappa Poojary and Monamma Poojary had written the foreword for social life by the way of the rural entertainment sport of balancing the cycle.

He worked at Beltangady Shetty Arts for some time and worked as a creative artiste in Kalladka Shilpa Gombe troupe for the last 25 years. Known to be a passionate actor, Gopal is known for his unique costumes, walk and dances winning the hearts of the audience. He also extends help to other artistes by providing them with sound guidance.

He is well known for his performances in Shilpa Gombe troupe giving performances in Mysuru Dasara, Mangaluru Dasara, Hampi festival, World Tulu Conference, Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat, World Kannada Conference, World Konkani Conference and more than a thousand performances across the country particularly in Mumbai and Kerala. He has performed in Tulu films Rang, Oriyardori Asal and Kannada serials gaining wide attention.

He said that he is glad that he is receiving the award for years of service towards the art. “I am grateful to Dr M Mohan Alva and Ramesh Kalladka of Shilpa Gombe troupe for their relentless support and Janapada Academy which identified me,” he said.
