Chitradurga, Jan 5: A youth hanged himself and ended his life. This incident happened at Khandenahalli in Hiriyur taluk of the district.

Narasimha Murthy (26) from Khandenhalli ended his life. He had lost merely by 30 votes in the gram panchayat election. He reportedly lamented in the presence of his friends about having been cheated by the people whom he had trusted.

He often said to his friends and close ones that he had lost his honour in this defeat and that he was devastated by the fact that his village people did not reward him for favours done by him to them. Having been unable to bear the agony, he hanged himself, reports said.
