Bantwal: 'Victory in GP polls shows people’s faith in Congress' principles’ - Saleem Ahmed

Bantwal, Jan 5: “The victory of Congress supported candidates in large numbers despite allegations of misuse of power indicates the faith of people on Congress principles,” said KPCC executive president Saleem Ahmed.

A mass road show of the candidates who were victorious in Bantwal Vidhan Sabha constituency gram panchayat elections was held by Bantwal and Panemangalore block Congress at B C Road on Monday. The road show started at B C Road circle, progressed via Goodinabali Panemangalore and concluded at Sagar hall.

Saleem Ahmed said that Congress should come back to power in taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat elections. “A plan will be prepared in Sakalpa Samavesha to convey the message to houses about furthering the party effectively. A campaign against the government will be started. Our campaign will begin from Bantwal where our able politician Ramanath Rai is identified. Congress party’s unity and failures of governments at the centre and the state will be highlighted in the Sankalpa Samavesha,” he said.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai who presided over the meeting, said that telephones are being received persuading Congress candidates who won gram panchayat elections. “Party activists should work without losing heart. Those who telephoned should be answered appropriately,” he said.

KPCC chief secretary G A Bava, Vidhan Parishat member Narayanaswamy, KPCC member Balaraj, Kanachur Monu, Muda former president Kodijal Ibrahim, cashew development corporation former president B H Khader, district panchayat member M S Mohammed, Padmashekar Jain and Chandraprakash Shetty were present.

Bantwal block Congress president Baby Kunder welcomed. Panemangalur block Congress president Sudeep Kumar Shetty rendered vote of thanks. Mani gram panchayat member Balakrishna Alva Kodaje compered the programme.
