Kalaburagi: Council pandemonium - probe only duty dereliction of officials

Kalaburagi, Jan 6: Law and parliamentary affairs minister, J C Madhuswamy, stated that the investigation ordered by the chairman of the legislative council covers only the dereliction of duty of the officials and there is no order to probe the behaviour of the council members.

"No one ever expected such a commotion to happen at the council. 14 days had elapsed after the no confidence motion against the chairman was moved. Therefore it was believed that he would voluntarily leave the position. Even after the bell was rung, the chairman did not come. Therefore, the deputy chairman occupied the chair. After that all hell broke lose all of a sudden," he explained.

Dharme Gowda suicide: The railway police have given impetus to the pace of investigation into the suicide by deputy chairman of the state legislative council, S L Dharme Gowda, whose body was found smashed on the railway tracks. A death note that was reportedly left behind by Gowda has been sent to the forensic science laboratory at Bengaluru for verification. Information was also collected about the programmes he attended before ending his life.
