Mumbai: Father burns cheek of two-year-old son with cigarette lighter

Mumbai, Jan 7: A father burnt the cheek of his two-year-old son using a cigarette lighter. The mother, who intervened was assaulted, later filed a police complaint. The family hails from Nalasopara.

The mother, who is 24 in her report said that the child was insisting his father take him to his maternal uncle's place for which the father who is also 24 was not ready. While the child kept crying, the father took a cigarette lighter and burnt his cheek and assaulted his mother, thrashed her with a leather belt and punched her when she tried to intervene, the mother said to the police.

The mother then took the child to a civic hospital in Nalasopara, where the doctors asked her to file a police complaint. The police booked him under IPC section 324 for causing hurt and sections of Juvenile Justice Act.
