Kundapur, Jan 26: The fourth taluk panchayat meeting of Kundapur taluk was held at taluk panchayat auditorium on Monday.
Jagadish Devadiga strongly objected to the absence of full-time tahsildar for the taluk. "There are several jobs for the revenue department and people in the taluk office. The absence of tahsildar hinders the work. It is not sufficient if the tahsildar is available for only two days a week. Full-time tahsildar should be appointed immediately," he urged.
President Mahendra Poojary said that new vacancies have not been created even after the creation of new taluk. "It is like the old undivided Kundapur taluk," he added.
Members lamented that there is no telephone facility in the office. "The number of stray cattle has increased in Byndoor taluk causing road accidents on national highways. Cattle enter agricultural land and spoil the crop. A byre should be identified in every village for a permanent solution to the issue," urged Pramila Devadiga. Jagadish Devadiga and Pravin Shetty backed the demand.
President Mahendra Poojary said that the revenue department should immediately identify land for byre and that the work should wrap up in a week.
"The Someshwar Anganwadi building in Paduvari village was constructed 30 years ago as government land. But it is registered as private land now. If that is the case why did you allot the land where the Anganwadi is situated under 94C? Why does land get approved to those who own land? ACB should investigate it. Action should be taken against the guilty," urged social justice committee president Pushparaja Shetty. Pravin Shetty who was not satisfied with the answer by the officials expressed anguish. Member Greeshma Bide expressed dissatisfaction about the absence of an answer to the question raised last time about several pending applications for 94C.
Mahendra Poojary speaking to the horticulture department officials informed that a proposal for an additional package should be submitted as there are more watermelon growers in the taluk.
Pramila Devadiga complained that plants and shrubs on both sides of the road in gram panchayat limits are not removed despite raising the issue in the last meeting. Pravin Shetty said that members should be informed about the meeting one week in advance. Informing over the telephone is not right, he rued. "Quality education should be provided in government schools. Teachers should not participate in private programmes during school hours. I want to see the attendance of teachers in all the government schools in Byndoor block office limits," he added.
President Mahendra Poojary confronted Cashew Development Corporation, zonal forest officials and tahsildar with regard to DC manna land. "The forest department stating that the land belongs to them after RTC has been drafted in the name of Dalit families is not right. Their arguments are not right," he said.
"The answer by health department officials to the question raised last time about the behaviour of surgeon in Byndoor community health centre is not appropriate," said Mahendra Poojary.
Discussions were held about subsidy for the produce of pulses, fertilizer, and distribution of medicine and damage of crops.
Taluk panchayat president Mahendra Poojary presided. Vice president Malini K, social justice committee president Pushparaja Shetty, taluk panchayat executive officer N Bharathi were present.
