Mangaluru, Jan 30: Former MLA Mohiudeen Bava alleged MLA Bharath Y Shetty’s foul play in allotment of shops at APMC market.

Addressing media here on Saturday January 30, Bava said, “MLA Bharath Y Shetty pressurized BJP backed APMC president to allot shops to the person who is known to him and hence not allowing the president to allot the same to other traders. There are shops allotted for corporators Varun Chowta, Sumithra Kariya and many others.

“During the pandemic, decision was taken overnight to shift traders of central market to APMC market. Later they faced several problems. Recently, 214 traders have applied for shops. MLA Bharath Shetty is playing foul play in allotment of shops in APMC market.

“Even the work of Surathkal market worth Rs 160 crore has been stopped. When Siddaramaiah was the chief minister, Rs 62 crore was sanctioned for the same. The work of Surathkal market is now stopped. MLA Bharath Shetty is not taking any measures to start the development work of Surathkal market,” said Bava.
