Mangaluru: Rastriyavadi Christara Vedika holds volleyball tournament

Mangaluru, Feb 1: "Life of Padma Vibhushan George Fernandes has been a role model not only for the political sectors but all the sectors. May his life be a guiding light to the current generation and future generations," said new public relations officer of Mangaluru Catholic diocese and entrepreneur Roy Castelino.

He was speaking after presiding over the valedictory ceremony of volleyball tournaments held for the invited teams in the leadership of Rastriyavadi Christara Vedike in the cooperation of Mangala Friends Circle, Urva Store commemorating the second death anniversary of George Fernandes. "He was a minister who had leadership quality and sincerity that needs to be inculcated by all. His determination helped him reach great heights. He had the ability to speak against injustice. It is our responsibility to make his name immortal. The programme held in this memory is a fitting tribute to him," he said.

Chief guest, entrepreneur George Pais congratulated the Vedike which has been holding various types of programmes since the last 14 years upholding the spirit of nationalism.

National volleyball player Anurag, Mohammed, Karnataka team former player Everest Pinto, entrepreneur Maxim Crasta, physical education teacher Sudhakar Shetty and others distributed prizes in the valedictory ceremony as guests.

Mangala Friends Circle defeated their opponents Udupi Friends team in the final by 1-2 and bagged the George Fernandes Memorial volleyball trophy. Udupi Friends team won the runners up prize.

Rastriyavadi Christara Vedike founder Franklin Monteiro welcomed and rendered a vote of thanks.
