Mumbai, Apr 9: A 26-year-old labourer lost his life after falling from the 12th floor of an under-construction building in Ambernath. The police booked the developer and contractor for negligence.

Sanjay Vishwakarma, the deceased, was a resident of Sant Ravidas Nagar in Uttar Pradesh and was living in Ambernath. While at work, Vishwakarma lost his balance and fell into the duct of a lift and died. Initially, police registered an accidental death report but upon investigation, it was revealed that the contractor Mohammed Shaikh and developer Sunil Tharwani had failed to provide safety equipments to the workers.

Based on the victim's brother Manoj's statement, police booked Tharwani and Shaikh under sections 304 (A) (negligence causing death) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Sub-inspector Shantaram Rajput said, "As per findings we booked the duo for the death, and a further probe is on."
