Bengaluru, Apr 14: Criticising the Congress party for not conferring Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, on the architect of the Constitution and not paying him homage even 34 years after Dr B R Ambedkar’s death, health and medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar said history will not forgive such people.
Participating in the 130th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar and 114th birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram in Chikkaballapur on Wednesday, Dr Sudhakar said the Constitution framed by Dr Ambedkar is responsible for ensuring that even an ordinary tea-seller could become the country’s Prime Minister as mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

Dr Sudhakar said the Congress party ruled the country for 70 years by mouthing empty slogans like Garibi Hatao and asked the people to ponder over who were the real saviours of the Dalit and oppressed sections of society.
The minister said it was the Modi government that really worked for the poor and distributed free cooking gas to 8 crore Dalit families, under the Ujwala scheme and provided potable drinking water besides ensuring loan facilities to 10 crore Dalit families. This is the real equality and emancipation of the poor, he said.
The health and family welfare minister said the lockdown was not and can never become the answer to controlling the Covid-19 pandemic and asked the people to work for containing the disease by imposing Janata curfew on their own instead of governments forcing the people.
The minister asked the people to follow the Covid guidelines and strictly adhere to the social distancing norms, compulsory wearing of masks and sanitization as ultimately the people who must take the initiative in preventing the spread of the pandemic. It is also necessary that all eligible persons must get themselves vaccinated, he added.
