Sullia, Aug 13: Sri Nithyananda Swami of Thryambaka Ashram encouraged the people of the area to farm by organizing a rice cultivation programme on farmland which was left uncultivated for 15 years, on Thursday August 12.

The cultivation was done on land belonging to Dr Haraprasad Tudiyadka, managing trustee, Channakeshava Temple. Dr Tudiyadka who never used the land for cultivation, stepped into the field with his wife and the people of the locality under the guidance of the Swami.

The whole scene was like a celebration with hundreds of people participating.

“The rice grown on the land will be used by the temple to serve food for those who come for prayers”, said Sri Nithyananda Swami who also participated in the farming programme.

Bhagavathi temple president Boodu Radha Krishna and ‘Sudddi’ news paper editor Harish Bantwal also participated in the programme. The programme created history in the field of agriculture and underlined the importance of cultivation at a time when the current generation is attracted to a modern lifestyle for
entertainment and living.
