Kasargod, Aug 16: People’s Democratic Party leader, Abdul Nasser Madani, who has been accused of having a hand in triggering serial blasts in Bangalore sometime back, said on Sunday August 15 that he plans to surrender before a court of law in a few days. Addressing a press conference held at Kozhikode, he clarified that his decision to surrender in the court was driven by the desire not to allow law and order to be disturbed on account of his arrest. “If the policemen are hell-bent on arresting me, they can do so,” he added.

In the meanwhile, a delegation of Muslim leaders, which met Kerala Chief Minister, V S Achutanandan, urged him to ensure that Madani is not allowed to be arrested till his bail petition in the Supreme Court is decided. They said that Madani should not be handed over to Karnataka police, during the holy month of Ramadan. Achutanandan reportedly told the delegation that Madani should allow the law to take its own course, pointing out that his bail petition has already been denied by Karnataka High Court.

Kerala home minister, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, in the meanwhile, said that the decision as to how and when Madani was to be arrested is left to the discretion of Karnataka police. He said that the Kerala police will help the Karnataka police, who are armed with the arrest warrant, to execute it. He clarified that prohibitory orders have been clamped in Answarasseri in Kollam district, as law and order problems will arise, if thousands of PDP activists gather there.
