Mumbai, May 24: A traffic police constable saved a woman who was attempting to end her life. Later, she turned out to be an MLA's wife. As the Mankhurd traffic police team was directing traffic movement, at around 10.15 am, a motorist alerted them that a woman was perched on the grill of the bridge and was sobbing.

A motorcycle rider with the traffic branch, constable Dhage was immediately sent to the location and information was passed to the control room at Mankhurd local police station and Navi Mumbai police.

Constable Dhage managed to convince the woman to step down from the grill with sensitivity and tact. Later, she was brought to the Mankhurd police station where she revealed that she was the wife of an MLA. She said that she was upset due to domestic conflict which led her to take the drastic step. She was handed over to the Navi Mumbai police who informed her family.
