Mangalore, Sep 1: Members of Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike along with activists of Nirmalanagara Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike, staged a protest at the railway gate located at Jeppu Mahakalipadpu on Tuesday August 31 by blocking the movement of trains, demanding for the immediate repair of the gate and also demanding for the construction of an over bridge at the spot.

The protest went on for about 30 minutes. The protestors said that repeated technical snags experienced in opening the railway gate that gets jammed frequently, has been causing problems to hundreds of road users. They pointed out that Jappinamogeru Bypass Road is an important link to reach the city from national highway 17, and that the traffic jam here also affects movement of vehicles on the national highway.

The railway officials and police officials visited the spot and assured the protestors of initiating favourable action on their demands at the earliest. Relying on this assurance, the protestors withdrew their protest.

Tulunadu Vedike president Yogish Shetty Jeppu led the protestors. Its leaders like Jyotika Jain, Ratnakar Suvarna, J Ibrahim, Rajgopal, Ashok, Nirmalanagara Vedike leaders, Muhammed, Hasanabba, Prabhashankar, Devas Shetty and many others were present.
