Bantwal, Jun 26: “The educational future of students has reached pitiable condition for the second year in succession due to the Corona menace. The government should take a bold decision to resume school as per the will of the parents in most parts of the state,” urged Sarakari Shale Ulisi Belesi state committee to the government. The matter was discussed in a meeting held at Bantwal in the leadership of state president Prakash Anchan and a request was submitted to the minister of education, Suresh Kumar.

“The unlock process is in progress all over the country and work and activities are being resumed. The government should think of revolutionary changes in the education sector. The schools should be reopened for the future of innumerable students.”

“Students who were admitted to pre-primary and primary classes have been promoted to next class last year without any requirements. Several of them did not obtain knowledge of alphabets. Does the aim of education be fulfilled if the students without knowledge are promoted to the next class? Though Vidyagama classes were held in villages last year, students and teachers have faced several issues in them. It is better and safe to conduct classes in the classrooms instead of open yards,” they stated.

The request highlighted the problems being faced due to online education. “Instead of resuming all the classes from first standard to seventh standard together, classes can be held from first standard to fourth standard on one day and from fifth standard to seventh standard on the next day. SSLC students are already mentally tense due to examinations. Their examinations should be held by taking sufficient precautions. Examinations can be held taking alternative measures in places where Corona is rampant. Covid cases were not found anywhere when schools were reopened last year,” they stated.

“Parents have expressed their opinion at many places in the state. The parents should support the new decision of the government,” urged the committee.

Secretary Purushotham Anchan, members Ramachandra Poojary Karenki, Deepak Salian and others were present.
