Beltangady, Jun 29: Jagadeesh Rao (41), residing behind Vaishali guest house at Dharmasthala hanged himself on Monday June 28 from a tree near his house. He was working as a daily deposit (pigmy) collector of Dharmasthala Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Bank.

Rao also operated a vehicles smoke emission testing facility at Kanyady near Dharmasthala. It is learnt that in addition to borrowing money from friends and relatives, he also had availed Rs 15 lac loan against pledge of gold ornaments from a private finance company in Ujire. As the unpaid borrowings played heavily in his mind, he ended his life, his wife stated.

Dharmasthala police reached the spot, conducted spot inspection, and registered a case.
