Bengaluru, Jun 29: Deputy chief minister and higher education minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan on Tuesday launched the 'Seed Ball Drive' organized by the state BJP Yuva Morcha for planting 11 lac saplings across Karnataka to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.
"Providing clean air, clean water and sustainable ecology are the toughest challenges of the hour and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is effectively leading the way towards achieving these goals," he said appreciating the initiative of BJP Yuva Morcha in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
The seed ball drive is part of the week-long service activities organized by the BJP Yuva Morcha on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shyam Prasad Mukherjee, Dr Narayan said and mentioned that the State and Union governments are giving importance to clean technologies.
Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the union government is giving prominence to renewable energy projects including solar power as well as to increase the forest area, he said.
In the last seven years, the forest cover has been expanded considerably and the wild animal population is also on the rise. The commitment towards creating should not be confined to just preaching, rather it should be practised at grass root levels in daily life. This is applicable to one and all including the political leaders, Dr Narayan said.
Dr Sandeep, President, Yuva Morcha, and other Morcha office-bearers Manjunath, Narayan Gowda, Dasharath were present.
Decision on lockdown relaxation by July 5
The deputy chief minister called on Suttur Mutt seer Dr Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Maha Swamiji and told reporters that the Suttur seer has agreed to implement the national educational policy in JSS Educational Institutions from the current academic year.
Speaking to the media after meeting the seer, he said he was a casual visit to seek his guidance and blessings which happens frequently.
With regard to a query on further easing of Covid-19 norms, he said there had been submissions from various quarters including malls, cinema halls for relaxations and added that any decision pertaining to this will be taken only after the meeting, which the chief minister convenes on July 5.
The decision to conduct SSLC examinations is taken considering the best interest of students, to facilitate their next level of education. There is no confusion with regard to the physical opening of schools and colleges.
The decision on the opening of colleges for students above 18, will be taken the decision after completion of vaccination for this group.
The timely decision will be taken based on the development of situations considering the opinion of the technical committee. Nobody from the government has announced certainly about the commencement of classes, Dr Narayan said.
2 lac surgical masks for CET students
The Rainbow Hospital, Advance Educational Service (AES) and Bright Right Company have donated 2 lac surgical masks to the State Examination Authority for distribution to the students appearing for the Common Entrance Test (CET) examinations this year.
The surgical masks were donated to the deputy chief minister, Dr Ashwath Narayan by AES founder-director, Deepti Ashok, Rainbow Children’s Hospital and Bright Right vice-president, Akshay Oleti.
