Udupi, Jun 29: “All the private buses, maxi cabs and taxis can be allowed to operate only after the payment of advance tax as per the directions of the transport commissioner and Motor Vehicles Act,” stated the regional transport authority and regional transport officer in a press release.

The press release stated that a private bus bearing the registration no. KA 51 B 9646 was operating from Udupi to Hebri in the evening on June 28 without being released from the authority and without paying taxes. “The vehicle was inspected on the basis of complaints received from locals, it was seized and parked in the office premises, the passengers in the bus were dropped to their respective residences and legal action was taken in this connection," the press release stated.

"The people should not be put to hardship like this, and the vehicles should be run on public roads only after payment of tax and after they get released by the authority,” stated the press release.
