Bengaluru: SIT chief goes on leave - CD probe delay likely

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 30: Chief of the special investigation team (SIT), Soumendu Mukherjee, has availed long leave for the second time after becoming the SIT chief.

Mukherjee had availed two months leave in the past. As he is availing a month’s leave now, the investigation is likely to progress at much slower pace.

Bengaluru city police commissioner, Kamal Pant, confirmed that Mukherjee is availing a month's leave. The SIT has questioned Naresh Gowda and Shravan, who are thought to be the kingpins in the case. The accused are yet to be questioned before arriving at a logical conclusion. Last time, a report in the closed envelope had been submitted on the high court, the court had taken the team to task as the report was not signed by the SIT chief, before adjourning the hearing.

Mukherjee may be called to the court to record a statement about the report, sources said. Because of these things, the CD case will most likely be delayed.
