Koppal, Jul 3: A woman from Kandakoor village in the district has submitted a petition to the office of the child development project office (CDPO) Kushtagi on Friday July 2 alleging that her husband has been inflicting physical and mental torture on her. She said she has been driven out of the house and her husband even does not allow her to visit the houses of her children. As she is faced with the prospect of having to beg for a living, she has sought permission for euthanasia.

The woman, who married 40 years back, said she has two children. "My husband had married another lady in the past. He has neglected me and my two children. My children too have married. Unable to bear his torture, I went to my daughter's home but there too, my husband came and derided me besides beating me up, she has claimed.

Frustrated at the behaviour of her husband, the woman had handed over complaint in Kushtagi station on August 21, but the police sent her away by giving some advice. After she was beaten up recently once again and banished from home, the woman began to live in a small shrine in Kandakoor village. As she is not willing to beg for a living, and her husband is not allowing her visit her children, she has sought permission for euthanasia.

Child Development Project Officer of Kushtagi, Amaresh, said he will discuss the issue with the legal advisor. He said that law provides to claim alimony from husband at such cases.
