Bengaluru, Jul 6: Deputy chief minister and state Covid task force chief Dr C N Ashwath Narayan on Monday said vaccination drove for all the people in each of the assembly constituencies will commence from today.

He was speaking at the special vaccination campaign for traders in Malleswaram as traders were most vulnerable in view of the larger number of people coming into contact with them. Vaccination for the people who are more likely to face the danger of infections was necessary as part of the larger objective of preventing the third wave.

Each of the 1,500 traders in Malleswaram was vaccinated in Malleswaram. Almost all frontline warriors, as well as autorickshaw drivers, senior citizens, advocates, teachers and students, have also been covered in the vaccination drive.

Dr Narayan said the infections were likely to spread faster in the third wave and vaccination was the only protection.

He said BBMP has vaccinated over 60,000 people and another 1.25 lac doses are being distributed to cover all eligible people in all the assembly constituencies in the city.

Petty shop owners, street vendors and other vulnerable sections of the people are being vaccinated throughout the city as Bengaluru is the most densely populated city in the state. The government wants to cover the entire city to prevent the spread of the pandemic, he said.

The deputy chief minister also visited the vaccination camp for students conducted by M S Ramaiah Hospital and said all the educational institutions must join hands with the government to cover the entire population. It is necessary to vaccinate the students if the academic activities must resume and go on in full swing, he added.
