Mangaluru, Jul 8: A 16-year-old girl who was diagnosed with the Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS-C)) was successfully treated at the district Wenlock Hospital here. She was discharged from the hospital on July 6.

This is said to be the first ever MIS-C case registered in Dakshina Kannada district. The girl was admitted into Wenlock Hospital with breathing problems on June 16. After she was treated for Covid19, other problems like pneumonia, lung infection, brain-related complications, haemoglobin issues etc were encountered. The doctors at the intensive care unit, by keeping the girl continuously under close observation, succeeded in curing her completely after a treatment regimen lasting 24 days.

The intensive care unit team and hospital doctors provided treatment to her in the intensive care unit for 13 days. Out of this, she was put on ventilator for eight days. Lung specialist of the hospital, Dr Sharat Babu, said that the girl was considered as a MIS-C case as several other health problems were encountered when treating Covid 19.

MIS-C symptoms are normally observed among the children four weeks after Covid19 infection is confirmed. Therefore, the doctor said, they began to treat the girl on this model. He said that the girl showed good progress in recovery and therefore she completely recovered after 24 days. She has since been sent home.

The less doctors try to treat every ill with pills, the less will be adverse drug reactions from experimental administration of medicines. Mismanagement of her initial treatment causing her next line of infections and complications are evident from the symptoms. Being young and careful present course of treatment has saved her life. Unfortunately aged and immune compromised wouldn't have survived these ailments.

Congratulations to the doctors. If only our politicians had for once thought of doing some good work rather than filling their pockets with tax payers money. All govt hospitals cud have been improved to the level that it gives private hospitals competition. Treatment cud have been given at a subsidised rates. Everyone wud have been benefitted
