Udupi: Theft, illegal transportation of cattle - Two cases filed

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 8: Manipal police sub-inspector, Rajashekhar Vandali, was in the police station at 10.30 pm on July 6 when he was told by an informant that a cow was being illegally transported in a pick-up van near Rampur junction. The cow was stolen, as per the information. Unknown people reportedly stopped the vehicle and damaged it, the sub-inspector came to know. He then went to the spot with other staff and found a vehicle with a crossbreed cow in the backside bound by ropes. It was found that unidentified culprits had bound the cow in a violent manner without providing food and water for slaughtering and making beef. The vehicle and the cow were taken into custody for further action. The value of items confiscated has been estimated at Rs 1,10,000.

The police said that the case under the Indian Penal Code and Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act was registered.

In a related development, a case was filed by Sheikh Abdul saying that he had loaded a cow from the house of a person named Gunakar on July 6 night. When the vehicle driven by Imran was being taken towards Katapadi via Hiriadka, and reached Rampur Junction, accused Giriraj, Romeo, and Hari who followed the van in a car blocked their pick-up van. The accused reportedly forcibly dumped the complainant on the floor by his collar and hit his face with a fist. With a stone, the front glass of the Bolero vehicle and headlight were shattered. The complainant reportedly was dragged to the Etios car in which they came, and threatened to kill him, it is alleged.

The police have registered case under different sections of the Indian Penal Code.

IF THIS SORT CONTINUES WE MAY HAVE TO SEE THE PICTURES OF COW IN TEXT BOOKS. NOW A DAYS EVERYBODY IS BOTHERED ABOUT SAFEGUARDING THEIR BELONGINGS WHICH IS A MATTER OF CONCERN. STILL WE SEE SOMEBODY SUPPORT CRIMINALS AT THE COST OF MODI/BJP. A DAY WILL COME WE MAY HAVE TO PAY PRICE FOR ALL CRIMES TOGETHER.

Stealing or robbing Cows and transporting without proper documents, if proved is against the law. "Why police are not taking any action on those who vandalized the pick up. Aren't they have taken law of land in their hand ? " Some readers have disagreed. In the mean time could you please explain in few words whether or not such action is unlawful or illegitimate (sort of jungle rule) Thats all I am not supporting Cow slaughter when the law has been imposed banning cow slaughter.

Of course few cows might have been stolen not all of them stolen, many farmers were selling cows/bulls to butchers when its old while transporting cows that sounds itself is "stolen" and/or "theft" because transporting cows is illegal (either purchased or stolen) it does not have any document/bill/invoice to produce to the department.

So all have to safeguard their cattle..do not leave them out in open.. I fully agree with your visionary comments. Gaumata and abandoned in the streets to fend them selves ! As to the vehicle, unknown people reportedly stopped the vehicle and damaged the pick up. Why police are not taking any action on those who vandalized the pick up. Aren't they have taken law of land in their hand ? This is called double standard of our Police rule & regulations.

Flavian Kuwait, the worst thing is govt.is supporting this .whether cow transport legal or illegal who gives them the authority to smash the vehicle and assault the person ?who gives them the repair cost?First of all inquire first whether transport is legal or not.In their eyes every cow transport personal or for exchange ,everything is stolen and for slaughter. That angers me most.

I pity your mentality dear! What is your argument? If cow is roaming around freely, it can be stolen and butchered?

dear shankar, internet soldier of the third rated saffron party, you and we all know that after chaiwala assumed power in center in 2014 there is no law in this country. It is fascism now..so Darwins theory of fittest survive is followed in this sanatan country now.. So my comment was in that context..you bring out laws to corner one community and it will revolt more.. if you have cows at home be careful. tie them at gow, cow or bow shala..dont allow them to graze. give them artificial pundi you get at shops..
