Udupi, Jul 10: Kaup Bunts Association appealed to the SP to take legal action against a private news channel for a derogatory programme against film star Rakshith Shetty.

“Rakshith Shetty belonging to the Bunts community is a talented actor who won the hearts of lakhs of Kannadigas and coastal residents. The derogatory programme against him transmitted recently by a private news channel has hurt the sentiments of the Bunt community. It was also an insult to the community,” said Bunts Association president K Vasudeva Shetty to the media.

“Programmes on media that malign the reputation of people just because they have the freedom of expression should stop. The concerned officials of the TV station should apologise and action should be taken against the producers who encouraged the broadcast of such a programme. Such programmes are being transmitted as they cannot bear the coastal youth shining as actors,” said Bunts community leader Kaup Leeladhar Shetty to the media.

Kaup Bantara Sangha president K Vasudeva Shetty, Kaup Bantara Sangha leaders Raviraja Shetty, Ratnakar Shetty, Balakrishna Shetty, Kaup Leeladhar Shetty, Rathnaker Hegde, Jayalaxmi S Shetty, Nirmal Kumar Hegde, Diwaker B Shetty, Yogish Shetty, Prabhath Shetty, Rajesh Shetty, Dayananda Shetty and Karunaker Shetty were present.
