Bengaluru: Corona third wave scare - Bommai directs stringent checking at borders

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 13: State home minister Basavaraj Bommai, held detailed discussions with the police chiefs of all the border districts including Belagavi, Bidar, Vijayapura, Kodagu, Mysuru, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada, about the need to take strict measures because of the fear of the third wave of the pandemic hitting the state.

The second wave has receded to some extent and the people are now heaving a sigh of relief. But the fear of the corona third wave gripping the state has made the rulers jittery. Experts expect the third wave to hit Karnataka during the last week of August. The state government therefore has been taking measures to put certain stringent measures in place as a precaution.

The home minister held a video conference with all the district superintendents of police on Monday and asked them to conduct strict checking in the border districts. He also asked the SPs to confirm that people entering Karnataka through Maharashtra and Kerala possess negative RT-PCR reports. He also called upon the officials to make advance preparations in order to collect throat swabs of the people entering the state, who display symptoms of coronavirus infection. "Hold discussions with health department officials on this issue and seek their help. Keep close vigil at the border areas of the state to make sure that no infected people come into our state from states on the neighbourhood," he instructed. Noting that infection in the state went up last time because of Maharashtra and Kerala, he asked the officials to take precautions to see that similar situation does not recur, and bus passengers are checked randomly. He held discussions with the SPs of all the border area districts.

The home minister was accompanied by state director general of police, Praveen Sood, and law and order additional director general of police, Pratap Reddy.

No need to worry. Pandemic will be there for 6 months.it will not go for years.Just wear mask, practice distancing and vaccinated. Future waves will not be deadly....From 2022, life will be normal and covid will be like normal Flu from 2022....Only proper treatment and giving proper medicines to the Covid patient can save lives and avoid deaths. Also please start trials for Ivermectin and 2 dg drdo medicines which will help to save the lives..Also proper diet and proper exercises will save the lives. Also we may expect nasal vaccines from next year which may help to stop the transmission of COVID 19...

I never imagine I will see a day in India when politicians talk of blocking borders between different states. There is rising fascism and intolerance in India since bjp came to power and that’s why I moved to Canada in 1984. India needs a pluralist tolerant secular leader like Justin Turdew of Canada not autocratic like Modi . Here in Canada some misguided youths children of poor school headmasters has gone to participate in peaceful protests in Khost, Helmand, and Syria . Also from many other countries such youths came. While other country is closing border and not allowing them to come back, Canada is showing liberalism and allowing them to come back and participate in such protests in future in Canada. Not only that the govt of Canada rehabilitation of such youths also done at taxpayer expense. Even during protests against farm laws in India, many country’s is keep quiet but Canada is making vocal protest against such laws beneficial to farmers. Most affected by these farm laws in India is the Sikh diasporas some unemployed youths in Canada and they also allowed to do some peaceful protests in India high commission and against some biased sikhs here who support such laws. Attempts to create peaceful borders of new states in India like Khalistan is also opposed by autocratic bjp govt .Such is legacy of peace and tolerance in Canada from which India must learn. Instead they are blocking movement of potentially infected people from state to state which is unscientific . Courts must step in to cure this mess and censure the BJP Govt.

very unfortunate fact about karela is that they spread doctored news... projection and ground reality totally different...it is better if the doors are shut until 2022 .... in addition to delta, even zaika is prevalent there... some miscreants might come out with the evil intention of spreading the infections.... all kl vehicles loitering without valid reasons should be impounded....

Why was the lockdown relaxed ? Now scare mongering... Pressure & lobbying by Cinema Theater & shopping mall owners , religious heads and other commercial establishments to open up will definitely result in the spread of the fast mutating virus.... I’ve seen how callous people are specially the people coming to Mangalore from our neighbouring state and also from nearby villages in SK. Unless all are vaccinated and follow hygiene and distancing this pandemic will remain for a few more years and we will see more deaths and devastation... unfortunately in our country politics and appeasement takes precedence - life has no value, death is another statistic.

Looks like another political timepass, visit Udupi and see the number of people loitering around without masks, with nostrils exposed, spitting and overcrowded buses. Do not project states governed by other political parties as the only carriers of infections.
