Mangaluru, Jul 13: DCP law and order Hariram Shankar said, “We will ensure that there will be no inconveniences caused to the parents accompanying students for SSLC exams at the at Mangaluru-Kerala border.”

Addressing media here on Tuesday July 13, the DCP said, “The exams are set to begin on Monday. The parents accompanying their wards arriving from Kerala to Mangaluru during the SSLC examinations will not face any kind of inconvenience at the check posts. We will conduct RT-PCR tests for the parents at the check posts and permit them to go without much delay.

“Due to the rise in coronavirus cases in the neighbouring states of Kerala and Maharashtra, strict vigilance is being kept at the border. Other than Talapady check posts, additional five check posts will be set up at the Kerala-Mangaluru borders under Konaje and Ullal police station limits. The additional five check posts are set up at Taudugoli, Nettilapadav, Naarya Cross, Nandar Padpu and Mudugara Katte. Police personnel will be deployed in three shifts with medical team at the check posts. Other than these places, in association with the Railway department, checking point will be set up at Mangaluru Central and Junction railway stations. For the next 15 days, we will strictly monitor people coming into Karnataka as new variants of coronavirus have been found in the neighbouring states. We will conduct maximum and random checking as per our capacity.

“We have urged the district health officer to provide us medical teams at the check posts and also the deputy commissioner to appoint a magistrate at the check posts so that it will be much easier to deal when there are legal issues to handle.

“Those who travel daily to Mangaluru from Kerala which include students and others for jobs, should undergo RT-PCR test once in 14 days which will be considered as passes, while others who come on other reasons, should undergo the test, once in 72 hours. During the RT-PCR tests at the check posts, if someone is tested positive, Kerala government will be informed about the concerned so that they will be placed in isolation,” he said.

DCP crime and traffic B P Dinesh Kumar was also present.
