Udupi, July 13: “Farmers these days are of the opinion that agriculture is not profitable. There is a scarcity of knowledge regarding scientific farming among agriculturists. The agricultural society has plans to prepare 5,000 farmers for scientific farming by next year,” said Udupi district agricultural society president, Ramakrishna Bantakallu. He was speaking at an event on the topic of agriculture held at Udupi residency hotel.

“Urea, DAP and Suphala chemical manure should be banned. Our priority should be scientific farming. Committees should be formed at the village level to unite farmers. The use of chemical fertilizers destroys nature. 99% organic farming should be implemented. 75% profit by spending 25% is possible in agriculture,” he said.

“There should be mutual coordination between people in villages. Farmers should give priority to campaigns and scientific methods of farming,” Ramakrishna said.
